Pinball Pete’s (Vintage South University) • Ann Arbor, MI • Signed Art Print by John Tebeau
$90.00
An Ann Arbor rite of passage. A University of Michigan legend. A basement full of quarters, noise, joy, and questionable decisions.
If you went to U-M, lived in Ann Arbor, or even just visited, chances are Pinball Pete’s played a role in your life. First dates. Study breaks. Victory laps. Stress therapy. Procrastination sanctuaries. Quarter-draining marathons. All of it.
This artwork is my tribute to Pinball Pete’s original South University Avenue location, when they took over the old Campus Pinball space — a now-demolished building that was lost to fire and redevelopment, making way for yet another high-rise. Like so much of old Ann Arbor, it lives on mostly in memory… and now, on your wall.
As a University of Michigan grad, this place is stitched directly into my personal history. It was loud. It was chaotic. It was magical. And it absolutely deserved to be drawn.
This illustration captures that electric, neon-soaked energy — the glow of South U, the hum of machines, and the beautiful mess of youth, freedom, and unlimited quarters (or at least the illusion of them).

About Pinball Pete’s
Founded in 1977, Pinball Pete’s became one of Ann Arbor’s most beloved landmarks, anchoring South University Avenue for decades and shaping generations of students and locals. Their South U basement arcade became legendary — a cultural crossroads of games, music, friendships, competition, and escape. Though the original building is now gone, the spirit of Pete’s lives on — in there new digs on Liberty Street — louder than ever.
