Red Lantern, sorry you're gone. You were a community hub in Fort Greene, a place where all kinds of people cross paths and rub elbows, like they do on the subway. And that was real healthy in a changing, diverse neighborhood, that casual interaction with others. It cultivated a chill, easy familiarity between neighbors, and broke down walls of class, age, and race. You’d see all types at Red Lantern: young, old, black, white, hip, square, overworked, underemployed. Families, singles, couples, and friends. Everyone was there for bikes, beer, food, and coffee. It was a big tent, that place, and everyone was welcome. Damn. RIP, Red Lantern.
